Do you love fishing and the great outdoors? As a fishing activity counselor, you’ll teach campers the basics of baiting, casting, and reeling in fish such as perch, bass, and catfish. You’ll lead fishing trips along the river, helping campers catch and release fish while taking in the stunning natural surroundings. You’ll also be responsible for ensuring the safety of our campers while they fish, as well as maintaining our equipment and cleaning up after each trip. As a camp counselor at Vista, you can sign up to lead, or assist an activity. If you’re experienced you may sign up to lead; if you don’t have prior experience we’ll train you so you can assist.
It’s your job to teach the fundamentals and help campers enjoy the activity. You’ll play a key part in creating a safe and fun environment so campers can learn and grow. You will be responsible for ensuring that all campers follow proper safety protocols and that equipment is handled and maintained appropriately.
As a summer camp counselor you will have responsibilities in your activity areas and the greater camp program. Your positive attitude, diligent supervision, and servant-leadership are instrumental in making camp safe and fun!
Counselors at Camp Rio Vista for Boys and Camp Sierra Vista for Girls serve as big brothers and big sisters to our campers. You will be the grown-up kids ages 6-16 are looking up to while they are at camp.
